March 7, 2019 – SPPRC wishes to share with you two announcements:
First, the SPPR has received a letter of resignation from Naomi Hutchison and we have accepted it. We thank Naomi and pray for her as she seeks new ministry places. The SPPR is working on short term and long term staffing for youth and young adult ministries. Current youth ministries including youth group, confirmation and VBS will continue. As a worshipping congregation we will say good-bye to Naomi and pray for her in all three worship services Sunday, March 10.
Secondly, you will find more bio information below for our associate pastor J.P. Snyder who will begin his ministry among us July 1. Please pray for Pastor J.P. and family as they welcome a new baby in their family, bring to a conclusion their ministry at New Waterford and Emmanuel UM Churches in East Palestine, pack, move and join us in July. There is a lot going on in their lives.
“As I grew a little older,” J.P. writes, “I loved the church. It was where I fit and felt at home. I was eager to be involved in any and all ways possible whether in learning or serving. From the ages of 12 to 13, I did a lot of prayer and study seeking to make the faith of my parents my own. That year of searching concluded with a filling of the Holy Spirit which connected me to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. After this experience, I began to develop a new identity in Christ giving me greater boldness and more passion to serve others.”
J.P. attended Kent State University to study Architecture. While there he said “yes” to the call to be a local church pastor. He graduated with a degree in construction management. He attended and graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary in 2017. J.P. was a camp counselor, spent one summer as a summer intern at Garfield UM Memorial Church, was a youth director/ associate pastor at Ravenna United Methodist church and then appointed to New Waterford and Emmanuel UM churches in 2017.
He is married to Jocelyn. They have a daughter Zoe (born on January 1, 2017) and are expecting a second child in April. Please keep the Snyder family in your prayers and ask for direction on how you can partner with him in ministry for the Kingdom of God.
