Relaunch Sunday

The COVID Pandemic has changed our lives forever in ways we cannot even imagine. We have put on hold many things over the past year and getting back to normal has been a slow process. Feeling comfortable in joining face-to-face worship has happened at a different pace for all of us. As much as you are all missed, and we want everyone back immediately, we realize that is not practical. I sense that a whole new thing is emerging in our church and in congregations around the world and we need to consider a new way of being community if we are to find the resilience we so desperately need.

On Sunday, September 12th we are having a RE-LAUNCH Sunday at both locations as a way to kick-off our Sunday School Programs, get even more excited about Bridge Kidz, re-open hospitality and welcome back those who have been away for a variety of reasons.

Over the next few weeks, you will hear more about this exciting Sunday, receive invitations you can share with others and tips on ways you can easily invite others to join you for worship and Sunday School. Please be in prayer about how you can help make our RE-LAUNCH Sunday a huge success and who you can invite to come along with you.

For those who are joining us virtually because you are new, out of the area or just checking us out, we will continue to welcome and love you. If you are in our area, we would love for you to join us in-person as you feel comfortable. If you are out of our area, we are glad you are a part of our congregation and look forward to getting to know you better, so please take time to complete the on-line communicator card so we can reach out.

I pray that each of you feel at home here at Carrollton First UMC and are filled with the love of Christ.

Blessings,

Pastor Kimberly

Summit Groups

Summit Groups are specially designed small groups developed around our UP, IN, and OUT discipleship culture. UP in our relationship with God while encouraging and supporting others in their walk with Christ. IN-to fellowship and support with one another. OUT missionally into the world by sharing Christ through our words and deeds.

Summit groups are a small group of believers at all stages of their walk, that come together for the purpose of being transformed fuller into the image of Christ as we help one another through life and faith. One can expect to enter into a warm and hospitable environment where the Word of God is read and reflected upon for personal implications and applications, prayers are raised, support and compassion is shared, and hope, peace, and encouragement is found.

Groups will seek to meet 10 weeks each semester. There will be three semester per year.

  • Semester 1: Week of Sept.12 – week of Nov.14
  • Semester 2: Week of Jan. 9 – week of Mar. 13
  • Semester 3: Week of April 24 – week of June 26

Summit Groups are not only where faith and relationships are deepened, but where the church is grown through multiplication. We hope you will connect with us on for the journey ahead. Please sign-up on the sheets outside the worship space and one of our leaders will be in touch.

Family Fridays

We would love for you and your family to join us every Friday through August 6th at 5:30pm at the Ann Green Park, Pavilion #2 for a time of faith, food, fellowship, and fun. Free and open to all families.

Each week, to foster our faith and encourage our walks, we will hear sage advice and a brief but inspiring message to discuss and reflect on. Every week we will be serving up hot dogs, chips and drinks along with other varying summertime favorites.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it every week, catch us when you can. Celebrating the glory of God that is alive in you and in each of your families.

Prayer Group

2 Chronicles 7:14-15 says, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.”

A small group has been holding prayer for our community and our assembly online every Sunday morning for about a year. With the change of the service times, we are moving our zoom prayer time to 7:30 a.m. We also wish to extend an invitation for you to join us. Africa University

Africa University is the first and only fully-accredited institution of higher learning established on the African continent by action of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church. It was founded in 1992 in Mutare, Zimbabwe, at the request of African Bishops who wanted a university for the whole of Africa to foster intellectual, moral, ethical, and spiritual growth in its students. Because of the lack of on-campus housing, many students walk very far every day in remote areas to come to Africa University. Female students become targets for human trafficking and prostitution.

Our East Ohio Bishop Tracy Malone has the vision of East Ohio churches building a women’s dorm to house 90 students which will provide a safe, secure environment and a community of support. Our church’s Discipleship Board in Jan. voted to participate in this project. In 2 years time, we hope to raise $20,000 to pay for 1 student room which will house 2 female students.  Any extra money will go to finish the room inside. Checks can be written out to our church with “AU” on the memo line.
