Upcoming Events & Announcements

New Service Times

A few of you have been inquiring as to what our worship times will be moving forward. With that question before us we must all acknowledge that the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly changed many things in our lives including church. The reality is that we still do not have 100% of our attendees or 100% of our volunteers back with us currently. With that being said, the Discipleship Board met on April 6, 2021 and it has been decided that effective Sunday, May 2, 2021, we will be combining the 8:30 and 11:00 YBC services into one phenomenal, blended worship experience that will be held at 9:00am both in person and online. It was also decided that the Bridge Service will be moved from 10:00 to 10:30.

We realize this is a big change for some and a minor change for others. Please know that your feelings are important and also please know that this change was not made lightly or without giving a lot of consideration to our congregants and volunteers. With questions, please contact any of our Discipleship Board members, listed here: www.yellowbrickchurch.org/about

Spiritual Formation Workshop

We will hold a Spiritual Formation Worskhop with Rev. David Baker on April 22 from 6:30-7:30pm at the Yellow Brick Church Fellowship Hall. Sign up here. This workshop will also be streamed on Facebook Live on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/carrolltonfirstunited
A note from Rev. Baker regarding this workshop: “I will be glad to meet with any who can come on April 22 (6:30 pm) to practice a process of reading/studying the Bible. When I was with you, you may have heard me say, “The difference between someone reading the Bible and studying the Bible is a pencil.” So bring one. The Bible is given so that we can “hear a word from the Lord” rather than merely learning about God. We will not search for “right answers.” You don’t need commentaries. You will use the Bible, a pencil and a prayer that asks God to “speak a word to us.”
This is a hands on time. We will practice the process not just talk about it. No one will be embarrassed because they “don’t know enough.” It will be good to see any of you who can come. We’ll plan on concluding by 7:30. If we want to go a little longer, I am willing to stay.”

If you will be joining us, please download and print the PDF below and bring it with you.

Mask Requirements

“You shall love the Lord your God … and love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt. 22:37–39, ESV)

During this pandemic, love for our neighbor is expressed in the ways we protect each other from getting infected.

In light of new directives from the governor’s office, Carrollton First UMC will be requiring that you wear a mask as you enter the church building. Masks may be removed when you reach your seat in the worship space. If for any reason you would leave your seat, please once again put on your mask.
We ask that you please look upon wearing a mask as an act of charity rather than an infringement of your rights.

Africa University

Africa University is the first and only fully-accredited institution of higher learning established on the African continent by action of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church. It was founded in 1992 in Mutare, Zimbabwe, at the request of African Bishops who wanted a university for the whole of Africa to foster intellectual, moral, ethical, and spiritual growth in its students. Because of the lack of on-campus housing, many students walk very far every day in remote areas to come to Africa University. Female students become targets for human trafficking and prostitution.

Our East Ohio Bishop Tracy Malone has the vision of East Ohio churches building a women’s dorm to house 90 students which will provide a safe, secure environment and a community of support. Our church’s Discipleship Board in Jan. voted to participate in this project. In 2 years time, we hope to raise $20,000 to pay for 1 student room which will house 2 female students.  Any extra money will go to finish the room inside. Checks can be written out to our church with “AU” on the memo line.
