The Urban Mission is acquiring a new property in downtown Steubenville. The plan is that this space will serve as a hub for the community to gather, learn, serve and work, and it will be used as a centralized space for clients to locate assistance based on their personal needs. This space will also house:
- A local food co-op to provide food
- An industrial size training kitchen with the dual purpose of providing meals and a culinary arts training program to the local community
- A computer lab with mixed used space to accommodate programming for GED preparation, a job readiness program called Jobs for Life, life skills classes and community training opportunities
- A location for social enterprises and a business incubator for local entrepreneurs
A loan has been secured for the space and upon reaching their fundraising goal of $325,000, they will begin renovations. As a church, we have a goal of raising $20,000 for this initiative by the end of December 2019!
